Bucket List Safari Activities : When we go for safaris we usually focus on only the traditional activities that are game drives, bird watching, nature walks and boat rides. Because these are the common activities but also straight forward. Like literally every park offers them so you go for them.

However, apart from the traditional activities there are also other non traditional activities that you can do to spice your safari.

And don’t get us wrong, the traditional activities are good and amazing so are the non traditional activities.

In this article we shade some light on some non- traditional safari activities that we are calling the bucket list safari activities.

Primate trekking

Primate trekking is the adventurous activity of going into the forest and to trek and find the mighty primates; with whom you spend an hour observing them and enjoying their presence.  The most popular primate trekking experiences are the mountain gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking and golden monkey trekking. However over 13 primate species are trekked in the different habitats.

Primate habitats in East Africa are bwindi national Park, mgahinga national Park, volcanoes national Park, virunga national park, Nyungwe national park, kibale national Park and others.

Done majorly in Uganda, this is an exciting activity that allows you to experience the unique species of the tree climbing lions in their element. It’s a tracking experience because since these lions climb trees, they are elusive so you have to track them to find them. And my oh my the experience is just fullfilling.

Rhino tracking

Similar to lion tracking; this is the activity that allows you to go in the rhino habitat and track them until you find them. It gives you the same feel like the lion tracking but this time you will be amazed at the sight of the huge rhinos with their big horns; sometimes covered in mud. The sight is just similar amusing and worth it. Plus unlike lions, rhinos are some of the big five animals that are hard to find just easily so this is indeed a bucket list activity.

Lion tracking is done in all parks with Rhinos and in uganda it’s done at the ziwa rhino sanctuary.
