Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Nairobi-Aberdare National Park
Depart Nairobi early in the morning for Aberdare National Park, located around 150 kilometers north of the capital. The park is part of the Aberdare Mountain Range and is known for its lush woods and waterfalls. Upon arriving, check into your accommodation and have lunch. In the afternoon, join a guided nature walk to observe birds such as the African fish eagle and Jackson’s francolin, or go on a game drive to see elephants, buffalo, and bushbucks. As dusk comes, unwind at your lodge, where you may watch animals at the waterhole, a perfect start to your safari.

Day 2: Transfer from Aberdare National Park to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After breakfast, have a final morning wildlife drive through Aberdare before heading to Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau. This conservancy is well-known for its conservation activities, and it is home to the last two remaining northern white rhinos. Arrive in time for lunch, then head to the chimpanzee refuge to learn about rehabilitation efforts. In the late afternoon, enjoy a game drive to see lions, elephants, leopards, and giraffes. Finish the day with a night drive to witness nocturnal wildlife, including bush babies and servals.
Day 3-4: Ol Pejeta to Samburu National Reserve
On Day 3, go to Samburu National Reserve, which is approximately 200 kilometers distant. Enjoy a packed lunch upon arrival before your first game drive. Samburu is known for its unique species, including the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and Beisa Oryx. Spend the following two days exploring the area, taking morning and afternoon drives to optimize animal sightings. Visit a Samburu community to learn about their customs and culture. In the evenings, unwind in your lodge, telling stories about your day’s activities under the stars
Day 5-6: Transfer from Samburu National Reserve to Meru National Park
On Day 5 of your 7 days Kenya wildlife safari, depart Samburu for Meru National Park, which is roughly 200 kilometers distant. Meru is known for its various ecosystems and gorgeous vistas, but it is less popular with tourists, providing for a more personal animal encounter. After you’ve settled into your accommodations, go on an afternoon wildlife drive to see elephants, lions, hyenas, and numerous antelope species such as waterbuck and Oryx. The next day, travel on full-day game drives to see both common and unusual animals, including the African golden cat and a variety of birds. Visit the park’s diverse ecosystems, including riverine woods and open plains, which offer good opportunity for animal observation.
Day 7: Transfer Back to Nairobi
After an early breakfast, go for one more morning game drive in Meru to record any final animal sightings. Look for African fish eagles and lilac-breasted rollers. Depart for Nairobi, admiring the scenery along the way. Stop for lunch at a nearby eatery and sample traditional Kenyan food. Arrive at Nairobi in the late afternoon, where your safari will complete. Reflect on the fantastic experiences and memories you had while exploring Kenya’s hidden jewels, and you’ll leave with a greater respect for the country’s wildlife and natural beauty.
