Murchison falls National park is the Uganda’s oldest and largest game park, its locally known as kabalega,it is situated at the end of Albertine rift valley. Murchison is located 305 kilometres North of Kampala in Masindi district and can be accessed by road and flights.

Murchison falls was gazetted in 1962 as wildlife reserve and is home of 76 different mammal species and 451 birds according to census in 2013.Murchison falls is made up of three reserves like Pakuba, Bugugu, and karuma reserve which make up one national park that is Murchison falls national park.

Murchison falls is bisected by the Victoria Nile which plunges 45m over the remnant valley wall creating the dramatic falls, the park’s unique placid stream that flows quiently,attraction and the final event in an 80km stretch of rapids. The might cascade drains the best of river’s energy, transforming it into broad, placid stream the flows quietly a cross the rift valley floors into lake Albert. This stretch of river provides some of Uganda’s remarkable wildlife spectacles.

Murchison falls is located in Northern Uganda, it is located in north west of Kampala city. The districts of Masindi, Nwoya,Kiryandongo and Buyiisa.it spans in landforms of rift valley escarpment and bunyoro escarpment around karuma falls reserve, getting to Murchison falls its easy and decides to travel in 5hours or by air from kajjasi airstrip to chobe airstrip which makes it cheap means of transport.

ATTRACTIONS

The main attraction in Murchison falls national park is the River Nile falls into 45metres deep with 7 metres wide of the park, the falls  forms 45 metres high to form a big splashing fog creating the magnificent Murchison falls.

Some of the activities that would spice the conservation areas include; Game drive, nature walk, Boat cruise, Birding watching and others which include hiking the top of the falls and chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forests while at the top falls everyone feels.

The National park provides accommodation in three categories that is; Luxury accommodation, Budget accommodation and mid-range accommodation

 Luxury accommodation include;Chobe safari’s lodge, Nile safari lodge,paraa safari Lodge which have also favoured the accommodation to outsides who finds them better place for them.

Budget accommodation one can opt to sleep at Yebo safari camp, Budongo Eco lodge, or Boomu Bands and mid-range accommodations include ; Murchison River lodge, Fort Murchison safari lodge and pakuba safari lodge where by all these facilities have provided different accommodations to different people according to their Budget.

PARAA SAFARI LODGE

Paraa safari lodge is well known as jewel of the Nile, it was established in 1954 in Murchison falls. The lodge is located in north west of Uganda and has overlooking one of Nature’s best-kept secrets of River Nile on its journey from its source of lake Victoria to join lake Albert here suddenly channelled into a gorge one six metres wide and cascades 43 metres below.
