Queen Elizabeth national park

Queen Elizabeth national park is located in south western region of Uganda, its borders with the democratic republic of Congo, it also lies within the Albertine region, it’s the second largest national park after Murchison. Queen Elizabeth national park is the most popular savannah reserve and it has the widest variety of wildlife of any Uganda National park. Queen Elizabeth was well known as Kazinga channel and later it was named Queen Elizabeth after the visit of queen of England 11 the great Britain.

The park is located in south western and its spanning with districts like Bushenyi, kamwenge, Kasese and Rukungiri its approximately 1,978 square kilometres of land that the park covers. The park can be accessed by the both for 7 hours drive from Kampala capital city and others can fly from Entebbe airport to outside National park.

 ATTRACTIONS

Queen Elizabeth national park is well known of African Buffalo, African Elephant, Ugandan kobs, leopards and climbing lions because of savannah and forest vegetation kazinga channel and surrounding water bodies have increased on population of big hippos and crocodiles.

ACTIVITIES

The national park has different activities which include; birdwatching, Game viewing, nature walks in Kyambura Gorge, Boat safari.

BIRD WATCHING

Queen Elizabeth has the bird species of about 600 species, which is the more half of Uganda’s total bird checklist. The kazinga channel during migrates season is said to have the most popular birds.

GAME VIEWING

Queen Elizabeth national park during game viewing provided by tour guide from the centre the tourists are able to see some animals like birds, climbing lions, home of buffalo and elephants thus making it unique park. Also tourists able to see the Kasenyi plains which are located in north of queen Elizabeth National Park. They support the plenty of animals and are the main aim of game viewing.

BOAT SAFARI   

In queen Elizabeth during Uganda boat safari, one is able to spot big animals like hippos and crocodile, lizards, elephants they can be seen during afternoon drive because they all gather at Kazinga channel to drink water since the waters of lake Edward and George have provided water in plenty during hot season.

SALT MINING

Salt mining in lake katwe has provided salt to the region for centuries. The salt is extracted manually with hands during mining.one of the activities on the safari is tour of salt mines and interacting with the community.

CLIMBING LIONS IN ISHASHA

Ishasha is located in remote area of south of the national park, its well known for lion climbing and it makes Queen Elizabeth the unique park, others animals that can be seen a like elephants,hyne and buffalo.

NATURE WALK IN KYAMBURA

  During the nature walk in kyambura gorge lies in the  western part of the park.it is about 100 meters deep and supports a lust forest and stream of waters in kyambura walk one is able to do the gorilla trekking which contains about 300 primates and some baboons can also be seen.

Under luxury accommodation, Queen Elizabeth National Park as the park has different lodges like Mweya safari lodge, Kyambura lodge and ishaasha wilderness camp which provide the best accommodations to the tourists with facilities like bars, swimming pools where tourists rest from after certain activities.

Under mid-range accommodation, the park has ihamba lodge, kasenyi camp site; this provides fire camping which bring the tourists together and gather in one place during goat roasting.

 In Budget accommodation, the park has places like Bush lodge, Simba safari lodge, Pumba safari cottages which also provide the same facilities on different bills.
