The 5 days Uganda safari also includes a wildlife trip to Kidepo Valley National Park which is also known as the “Maasai Mara of Uganda.”

Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Sipi Falls & Kidepo National Park Safari.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Sipi Falls.

Arrival & City Tour: Your guide/driver will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala. You will then embark on a short tour of Kampala city, where you will visit some interesting places such as; Kingdom Kampala, Uganda Museum and Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine. Proceed with your transfer to Sipi Falls in Kapchorwa district in eastern Uganda, with lunch enroute to the falls.

Transfer to Sipi:  Upon your arrival at Sipi Tourism Office, you will be given a guide and then embark a hiking expedition to any of the falls. Sipi falls consists of three water falls measuring at 100m, 69m and 87m respectively. The lowest of all three waterfalls is the most spectacular as it cascades over a 100metre cliff. The second waterfall, which is known as Simba, gushes 69metres over a cave entrance. The third waterfall called Ngasire, plunges over an 87metre ridge. You will hike to one of the falls and later meet up with your guide.

Drive to Mbale town which is less than an hour’s drive from Sipi falls.

Day 2: Coffee Tour in Mbale and Transfer to Kitgum.

Coffee Tour in Mbale: Have breakfast from your hotel early in the morning. Meet up with your guide/driver and drive to some of the coffee plantations in Mbale. Visit the Sipi Widows Group for a guided walk around the coffee farms as you learn how to plant coffee, harvest, grind, store and clean the beans. You will also have an opportunity to interact with some of the locals in the area, learn about life of the Sabiny people and participate in traditional weaving. Take part in cooking classes and learn how the local women prepare traditional delicacies. You will also get to taste what you have prepared.

Transfer to Kitgum: After lunch, you will drive to Kitgum district where you will get to spend the night at one of the hotels/lodges in Kitgum town.

Day 3: Drive to Kidepo and Community Tour.

Drive to Kidepo: Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. You will meet up with your guide and proceed with your transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park in the northeastern part of Uganda. It takes about 2-3 hours driving from Kitgum town to the national park.

Morning Game Drive: Upon your arrival in the park, check into your lodge. Later, you will embark on a morning game drive along the Narus Valley. You will get an opportunity to see lots of wildlife in that area of the park such as; buffalo, giraffes, zebras, elands, oribis, elephants- and even the odd jackal. If you are lucky, you might even spot some of the lions in the park, sitting in “sausage trees” along the Narus Valley. Day game drives in Kidepo valley national park can take several hours between 1-3 or all day depending on what attractions you want to see in the park. Drive back to your lodge for lunch.

Community Tour: After having your lunch, you will embark on a community cultural tour where you will visit the Lorokul Cultural Group, located just outside the national park. Discover the unique culture of this cattle-herding Karamojong community. You will get to watch dance performances from the some of the dance groups in the community and also interact with the friendly locals.

Drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Hike to Lamoj Mountains.

Hike to Lamoj Mountains: Have breakfast early in the morning and set off on a hiking expedition to Lamoj mountains. Guided hikes to these mountains start at 7am at Apoka Tourism Center and usually take about 4hours.They are the ideal viewing point for birds and wildlife, including the mountain reedbuck. Remember to carry your packed lunch or snacks which you can have during your lunch break. Drive back to your lodge and relax for the rest of the evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Kampala.

Transfer Back to Kampala: Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. You will drive back to Kampala via Gulu. Lunch will be enroute to Kampala. Depending on your time of arrival in Kampala, you can have your guide drop you off at any hotel of your choice in the city or at Entebbe International Airport where you will board your next flight back home.
