Detailed Itinerary for 10 Days Best Uganda Safari Without Gorillas

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala/Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park

On Day 1 of your 10 Days Best of Uganda safari, you will be picked up from your hotel by your safari guide. Embark on a 5-6-hour trip to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover for rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and lunch in Masindi town. Upon your arrival in the park, drive to the head trail leading to the mighty Murchison Falls, where you will spend some quality time viewing the powerful waterfalls.

Later, drive to your lodge, check in, and relax for the rest of your evening. Dinner will be served at your lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

Today, you will head out early for a morning game drive in the park. This is an opportunity for you to catch wildlife as they leave their dens and head out into the open savannah plains. Look out for wildlife such as lions, zebras, elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and so many more. You will have a short break for lunch at your lodge and take a moment to relax.

Later in the afternoon, you will head out for an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. This boat cruise will take you to the bottom of the falls and will also allow you to view birdlife within the area and wildlife roaming near the river banks.

Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park

After having your breakfast, head out for a full day of game viewing in the park. Look out for any wildlife that you might not have seen on your previous game drive in the park. Use this chance to look out for the elusive leopard, lions, hyenas, and many other wildlife animals that you would love to tick off your list.

Lunch and Dinner will be served by your lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Wake up in time to have breakfast and check out of your lodge. You will then embark on a 5 hours’ drive to Kibale National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive and optional birding as you drive through wetlands and forests, with a stopover for lunch.

Upon your arrival in Kibale National Park, check into your lodge and relax for the rest of your evening.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk

Breakfast will be served early morning, and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will be guided on the rules and regulations to follow regarding chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. You will also be assigned to trekking groups and accompanied by professional park rangers and guides. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park takes between 3 and 5 hours, depending on their location. Once you have located a chimpanzee group, you will be given an hour to spend with these delightful primates. Later, return to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while. Later in the evening, head to Bigodi for a guided birding tour in the swamp, where you will have an opportunity to view a variety of bird species, including the prehistoric Shoebill Stork, among others.

Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up in time for breakfast and then check out of your lodge. You will then begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time to check in at your lodge and enjoy a guided game drive in the park. Look out for a range of wildlife such as topi, buffalo, leopards, kobs, elephants, lions, Defassa waterbucks, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, and many more

Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Begin your day with a delightful breakfast meal prepared by your lodge. You will then head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. This area of Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for lion sightings, among other wildlife like elephants, leopards, and buffalo. Have lunch at your lodge before heading back out in the afternoon for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. You will view wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, buffalos and also bird species around the lake areas.

Dinner will be served at your lodge.

Day 8: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park- Guided Walking Safari

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in time to have lunch at your lodge. You will enjoy an afternoon guided walking safari in the park, where you will have a chance to have close encounters with wildlife like impalas, topis, warthogs, buffaloes, and zebras. Return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 9: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Ride on Lake Mburo

After breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in the park. Look out for any wildlife that you might have missed seeing during your walking safari. After lunch, you will enjoy an afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. Enjoy exploring the lake and viewing the bird species around. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 10: Morning Game Drive and Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe

When you are done with your breakfast. Enjoy a morning game drive as you drive out of the park and head back to Kampala. Depending on your arrival time in Kampala, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport. We look forward to hosting you again!
